Career guidance - cont.Career guidance for young peopleTypically, individuals enjoy careers that make the best use of their talents, aptitudes and personality, so we start by using a psychometric test which provides this information about a person. The basic assessment measure that we use for career guidance is the Morrisby Profile, which is a well-established and reputable series of tests with an unequalled reputation in its field. We supplement this with a questionnaire which analyses and quantifies the relative strengths of a person's interests (an interest inventory), and once we have the results of the two assessments, we have the base data to produce a comprehensive vocational guidance report, with detailed information about strengths, abilities, aptitudes, interests and preferences. Using the information further, we are also able to access very comprehensive research data that enables us to suggest a range of possible careers which are compatible with the test results. This comprehensive information is an invaluable aid to young people in planning a career. Our approach is to identify and explain the options which match the young person's abilities and interests, and to encourage the candidate to carry out further research themselves to establish which of the options they find interesting and motivating. |
